On episode 28 of That Gopher Hockey Puckcast, the 2017-18 season comes to an end.

This week, Nate Wells, Drew Cove and producer Tom Schreier discuss the men's Frozen Four fallout that saw Minnesota Duluth win the 2018 national championship over Notre Dame. The three look at the event in St. Paul, what Minnesota can learn from UMD's run to a second national championship and Nate gives his two big takeaways of the weekend.

Feature: The Humanitarian Spirit of Sidney Peters (The Athletic)

When you spend a lifetime tying your identity to hockey, discovering who you are outside the game can be difficult.

That was the case for Sidney Peters in fall 2013 when she stepped on campus at the University of Minnesota. One of the top goalies in her age group, the Geneva, Illinois, native saw herself competing right away for a starting spot. Instead, she sat behind Amanda Leveille, redshirting her first year and playing a combined 17 games the next two.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Sitting on the bench forced Peters to figure out who she was without hockey. Over the past four years she has logged over 800 volunteer hours, traveled to Haiti as a certified Emergency Medical Technician and figured out her post-hockey career; all while backstopping the Gophers to a Frozen Four last season and WCHA Final Faceoff championship this year.

Her work away from the ice resulted in Peters being one of five finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Award, which will be presented Friday afternoon to college hockey’s “finest citizen” for leadership in community service.

With the end of the season, a coaching change and multiple Frozen Fours, I've been in busy mode lately. One side effect is not having the time to post every little thing to the site. There was a lot of content between articles, radio appearances, podcasts and more.

On episode 27 of That Gopher Hockey Puckcast, we kick off the Bob Motzko Era.

News broke for a second consecutive Tuesday, meaning Nate Wells, Drew Cove and producer Tom Schreier had an entire week to come up with their thoughts on the newest University of Minnesota men's hockey head coach, along with covering an introductory press conference. Joining them is old friend Declan Goff, who has covered both St. Cloud State and Minnesota. He brings his unique perspective in what the former Huskies head coach will bring to his new role as Gophers head coach.
