Last night's game recap: Gopher pair hit milestones in win over Wisconsin

In the midst of a nine-game pointless streak, Scott Reedy was telling himself to stick to the basics. It paid off Friday night. The freshman forward broke through with three points, including his third goal of the season.

"I got to play my game. As long as I'm getting chances, I know points will come," he said.

Reedy said he also focused on trying to help the team in any way. He begun the game as a fourth line center before switching back to wing, this time with Mike Szmatula and Brent Gates Jr.

His goal came 20 seconds after Minnesota had scored when Ryan Zuhlsdorf found him wide open in front of the net. Reedy had crashed and was there due to the work he had put in practice to be in front of the net.

"I saw Tom (Novak) get the puck and Zuhlsdorf flying on the left side. Tom fed Zuhlsdorf with a lot of speed," he said. "I figured I would just drive to the back post and Zuhlsdorf made a heck of a play and fed it to me there."

Reedy's was not the only goal that came off crashing the net, which was something the Gophers struggled to do in a pair of losses to Notre Dame.

It's also something Wisconsin did well. Three of the Badgers' four goals came off of rebounds.

"We got to do a better job around our goalie (Saturday) because they scored a few of their goals right around the blue paint too," head coach Don Lucia said.

Line Combinations:

The Gophers will go with 11 forwards and 7 defensemen Saturday night.

Officially the only change is Sam Rossini getting in for Joey Marooney, who once again is the odd man out. Most of the lines are ones that Lucia went with during the second period Friday. Bristedt joined with Tommy Novak and Tyler Sheehy while Brent Gates Jr. and Mike Szmatula were reunited.

For the Badgers, Jack Berry gets another opportunity. Berry replaced Friday's starter, Kyle Hayton, when Minnesota scored five goals

Linus Weissbach is out for Wisconsin after leaving Friday's game in the second period and not returning. Max Zimmer takes his place.
