2017 Big Ten Tournament: Michigan's Red Berenson to decide future after Frozen Four (SB Nation College Hockey)

DETROIT- Unspoken throughout Thursday’s sixty minutes, the chants started up moments after the final buzzer sounded between Michigan and Penn State.

“Thank you Red! Thank you Red!”

At that point the game had ended. Speculation begun. The Michigan faithful who showed up for the Big Ten quarterfinal let Red Berenson, their longtime head coach, know how much he meant at the end of his 33rd season with the Wolverines and one he didn’t expect to be coaching.

Ryan Lindgren on WJC Gold + More (SBN College Hockey)

Minnesota's Ryan Lindgren wins a WJC gold medal, loses ten pounds to illness

The cost of Team USA basking in gold medal victory for Ryan Lindgren was more than the 137 texts his assistant coach received.

Lindgren celebrated the victory in the locker room with his teammates, however, he was unable to play in the gold medal game against Canada due to an illness that eventually caused him to lose ten pounds and eventually spend a couple days in the hospital. The University of Minnesota freshman defenseman said he first felt the effects the night prior to Team USA’s semifinal win over Russia.
